Puebla is a strong contender for my favourite city in Mexico, technically doable as a day trip from CDMX but worth so much more of your time. Historically, the city was known for producing tiles, and as a result you’ll see all manner of beautiful fascia on the buildings (and fountains!) around town. But Puebla is also one of Mexico’s best foodie destinations, and there’s scarcely a kitchen in North America (very few in the USA…) without at least one cook from the city or its environs. The historic centre of town is organised on a grid system, so it’s easy to navigate on foot, and wherever you turn you’ll be tempted by little treats to eat. If you’re willing to explore further afield, beyond the centre you’ll find parks filled with museums and family-friendly activities.
