Luang Prabang is a beautiful city, pocket-sized and easy to navigate, with all sorts of options for travellers. The surrounding countryside offers stunning scenery, hill walks and climbs, waterfalls and caves, and adventure activities for those inclined, while the city itself (still just about holding on to its UNESCO World Heritage status) is filled with temples and markets, cafes and restaurants, galleries… It’s really not in great shape post-covid, and I heartily encourage you to go there and spend your money in locally-owned hotels and restaurants, avoiding the Sofitel and its pals like the plague.
