Hội An might be one of the better-known tourist destinations in Vietnam, but it is also one of my favourite places on earth, so I couldn’t not write about it! Over the course of more than half a dozen visits I’ve come to form some very strong opinions on where and what to eat in town. Unless you do as the locals do and get up as the sun is rising, you’re likely to find Hội An unpleasantly crowded — such is the cost of popularity. But if you’re willing to be up with the dawn, you’ll find locals of all ages doing their morning workouts along the riverbank, exerting themselves before the heat becomes overwhelming. Early morning is also the best time to explore the market, or to take photos of the ridiculously pretty streets before the hordes move in.
